Girl in the Curl’s co-ed surf camps are designed for beginners and intermediate to advanced-level surfers. Participants are worked with on an individual basis according to their own abilities and goals for the week. This camp will allow participants to tune up their abilities, and learn proper wave judgment and surfing techniques from knowledgeable and patient instructors. There will be a strong emphasis on water safety and ocean awareness. Beginners start riding on modern soft surfboards in smaller surf learning the basic elements and building confidence while having fun. 

Participants must be 7-11 years old, swimmers, and confident in the ocean. We ask that you register now so you are guaranteed a spot. Space is extremely limited.

Things to Know

  • sunscreen, towel, change of dry clothes, drinking water, healthy snacks, lunch (full day campers only) in reusable containers, and a wetsuit. NO SINGLE-USE PLASTIC.

    We also HIGHLY recommend foot protection for the water (i.e. athletic socks or booties).

    If you do not have a wetsuit or board, you can rent one. We have sunscreen, towels, wetsuits, boards and booties available for purchase at our store located at 34116 Pacific Coast Highway, Dana Point, CA 92629.

  • Doheny State Beach, 25300 Dana Point Harbor Dr., Dana Point, CA

    Drive in the main entrance and make the first right into the main lot. Meet us at our surf van “Pearl” in the parking spaces behind the snack bar on the very right-hand side of the lot.

    Please make sure to check your camper(s) in & out each day.

    For the safety of everyone, we ask that drivers please maintain the 15 mph speed limit when driving on Doheny State Park property.

  • Parents and families are welcome to observe our program. We ask that you observe from a distance and let us work our magic with our surf campers. Our camp area is reserved for students only. We appreciate your cooperation.

  • Please do not arrive more than 15 minutes early. Monday is a mandatory check-in.

    Full Day: 9 am - 4 pm

  • There is curbside sign-in and drop-off.

    California State Park annual passes are welcome or scan a pay station QR code & pay by phone.
